Tattoo Aftercare

Tattoo Aftercare

Every artist heals differently, but consistency and cleanliness are key to achieving the best possible results.

Second Skin

Before leaving the studio, your artist may apply a second skin dressing to help protect the tattoo during the initial healing stage.

Leave the second skin on for a minimum of 24 hours. Depending on your artist’s advice and your skin type, it can often be left on for up to 4 days.

If irritation occurs, remove the dressing immediately.

Removing the Dressing

When removing the second skin, do so slowly under warm running water or in the shower to minimise irritation.

Once removed:

  • Wash the tattoo gently using clean hands and mild soap
  • Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel
  • Allow the tattoo to fully air dry

We recommend leaving the tattoo without moisturiser for approximately 24 hours after removing the dressing to allow the skin to settle naturally.

Moisturising

Once the skin is dry and settled, apply a small amount of moisturiser 2–3 times daily or as needed.

Use only a thin layer — over-moisturising can slow the natural healing process.

During Healing

Avoid:

  • Swimming
  • Sun exposure
  • Picking or scratching
  • Tight clothing rubbing the tattoo
  • Excessive soaking

Keep the area clean and allow the skin to heal naturally.
